Cadillac, Michigan resident, Carla Filkins, announced today that she is running for Mayor of Cadillac. Carla Filkins brings years of leadership and real life management experience to her candidacy for Mayor. As the Regional Director of Materials Management & Logistics for Mercy Hospitals Cadillac & Grayling, Carla brings her first hand knowledge to many complex issues facing Cadillac including fiscal management, negotiations, documented cost savings initiatives and collaboration. Above all, being a good steward of the resources entrusted to her is a real passion. Carla also brings a long history of public service to her candidacy.
“In looking at the current actions of our Mayor, I decided that it was the right time to step up and return our city government to the citizens of Cadillac” said Carla. “In looking at the current situation in Cadillac, it is clear that we have some challenges to face over the next few years. I am running for the position of Mayor to be a true public servant and a goodwill ambassador for this great city. The most exciting aspect of the campaign for me is the opportunity to meet and listen to the residents of Cadillac,” said Carla.
Along with being a graduate of the Cadillac Leadership program, Carla is very active in the local community having served as Past President of First Night Cadillac, Past Treasurer of the Wexford County Historical Society, current Member At Large with the Cadillac Arts Council, Committee Chair of the Children’s Create In for the Cadillac Arts Festival, Chair of the Cadillac Cystic Fibrosis Committee, member of the Cadillac Band Boosters, past Junior Achievement mentor, past CASA softball coach and past AWANA leader.
Carla holds a Masters in Marketing from Baker College along with a Bachelor of Business Leadership from Baker College. She also spent 7 years as a part-time adjunct faculty member at the Cadillac campus.
Carla is married to Mike Filkins, Director of Bands for Cadillac Area Public Schools and they have 4 adult children and 5 grand daughters. Carla, who was born and raised in the Cadillac area, maintains her residence in Cadillac, Michigan. In her leisure time, Carla enjoys quilting, golfing, raising Bichon puppies, and spending time with her family and friends. Carla is a member of the National Rifle Association and a strong supporter of Michigan Right to Life.
